JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:  Maintenance Employee – Maintenance Technician

 

REPORTS TO:  Bo Barksdale, Director of Buildings and Grounds

 

LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 240 Days

 

 

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Perform a variety of locksmith and door repairs; install, and replace locks, doors, and hardware.
  2. Perform general building repairs such as roofing, drainage, drywall, painting, flooring, plumbing, electrical and other related maintenance activities.
  3. Assist other maintenance technicians as needed.
  4. Identify and perform basic service and repair on plumbing fixtures, open clogged lines, and drains.
  5. Operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and various hand tools.
  6. Demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships.
  7. Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the public.
  8. Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance in accordance with school policies and practices.
  10. Perform preventive maintenance as needed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Proven maintenance experience.
  2. Experience performing routine maintenance.
  3. Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  4. Be a self-starter and have strong time management skills.

5.       Ability to follow oral or written instructions.

6.       Have basic computer skills.

7.       Ability to work with limited supervision.

  1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in general maintenance operations or related area.
  2. Current Mississippi drivers license with a satisfactory driving record maintained throughout employment.
  3. Relevant professional certifications.
  4. High school diploma
  5. Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
  6. Problem solving aptitude.
  7. Good physical condition 

 

 

 

DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Any additional relevant certification will be considered an advantage.
  2. In-depth knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
  3. Applicable knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
